I’m really sick of this idea that Kurt/Karofksy would be this deep, dark, compelling story that is somehow implicitly better/more complex/more interesting/more whatever, while Kurt/Blaine is this thin, substance-less fluff meant to appeal to the mindless, unsophisticated masses.
Because some of us try to think quite critically about the types of stories being told and aren’t particularly interested in yet another cultural narrative that romanticizes and dismisses violent behavior by making the perpetrator sympathetic and object of said violence the prize rewarded for overcoming those horrible yet totally understandable actions.
Glee sold Kurt’s character out with the bullying storyline. Period.
What started as an attempt to throw a spotlight on a huge problem in the lives of real gay teenagers quickly became a narrative burden for the writers and instead of putting in the time and effort it took to tell a story about both Kurt and Karofsky, they handwaved every single step of the process to make Kurt the bigger person and Karofsky a sympathetic victim of his own circumstances.
So, sure, if you accept that handwaving, Karosfsky is a nice guy now and Kurt is totally cool with what happened. I understand that some people like that and are into the redemption story and are happy to swallow it no matter how it is given to them.
But a lot of us aren’t happy about that and don’t want to see the problems of that resolution compounded even further by adding a romantic dimension to the pile of unresolved issues that have been swept under the rug.
So, please, ship what you want to ship, but for fucks-sake stop trying to classify other people with regard to their opinions. Your perspective is your own and you are entitled to it, but trying to pigeon-hole others as unable to see the bigger picture or wanting something that isn’t as sophisticated/fulfilling/whatever bullshit adjective you want to use to make your opinions seem better than others is unnecessary wankstirring that seems to serve no other purpose than to form a false basis for self-congratualation.

I very VERY rarely reblog anything to do with this issue for many reasons but this is one of the most brilliantly worded posts and pretty much sums up how I feel.
