This is LONG LONG LONG overdue.
There have been some truly amazing things written in fandom recently so I hope I’ve remembered them all :)
There’s additions to specific authors, one-shots, long fics, Hummelberry and Cooper/Blaine sections! Yep, LOTS!
I have SO much to catch up on so there’s a lot missing but I’ll update again soon, I promise.

summary: If Rachel’s friends are the ones standing in the way of his chance at redemption, at love, the answer really has been staring him in the face all along. It’s just like the Spice Girls once sang in their memorable (if problematically ambiguous) musical debut; if you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends. Also known as the one where Jesse is not-stalking Blaine and recieves a vision quest from the Spice Girls.

It’s so funny because my FAVOURITE Glee fic of all time isn’t Kurt/Blaine. It’s Finn/Kurt (brotherly friendship) with only a mere mention of Blaine and no Rachel at all. It’s reasonably short and completely ridiculous but it is EXCEPTIONAL because of the fact the characterisation is PERFECTION, it’s funny and intelligent - not to mention, exceptionally well written…
This comes a VERY close second…
I mean, it’s no secret that I LOVE Jesse St James. I’m so giddy he’s returning but I also hope to god he shares even ONE LINE with Blaine because the prospect of them meeting is too delicious to pass up.
This entire fic is so wonderfully in character. It’s Jesse written to utter and hysterical perfection and Blaine contrasted with him in the most amazing way. Yes, they share similarities but they’re also so very different and it makes for MADNESS but such endearing consequences. By the end of this, I was grinning so wide with pure happiness that it was difficult to rank it anywhere other than right at the top of my favourites list with a few other precious stories.
Seriously, read it.

Story Summary: AU. Blaine, eager to escape bad memories attached to Ohio, convinces his parents to let him transfer to a small liberal arts college in Vermont, where aloof Kurt Hummel catches his eye, Santana forces her special brand of ‘help’ on him, and nobody knows that he’s gay…

Oh goodness. This really is wonderful. First of all, the writing is TRULY EXCEPTIONAL. I mean, it’s hard to find writing as accomplished and interesting and varied in fandom. The first chapter is Blaine’s backstory and although there is very little dialogue, it’s brilliant and kept me hooked. Beyond that, it’s Blaine’s experience uprooting his life.
It’s written in the first person but it’s hardly obvious because it’s done so WELL. You feel for Blaine so much and his voice is truly insanely good. Some moments and thoughts hurt to read because I empathised and it hit home pretty hard. Kurt’s special in this too because it’s a slightly different Kurt to the one we know now because it’s all hinging on “what if” current Kurt’s life had been a little different… who could he have become?
It’s like reading original fiction because there are a whole host of the characters we know and love but they are in very different combinations and are still the same people from canon but they’re explored differently and it fascinated me.
Kurt and Blaine’s developing relationship has me gripped and it hurts but it’s also written at a perfect pace and is understandably complex.
Plus, the amount of littered literary references made me exceptionally happy.
Stories like this one are so precious and NEVER EVER appreciated the way they should be. It’s maddening to me and I hope people can read this and send the writer (as she’s lovely) plenty of love and appreciation :)
It is currently a WIP but updated fairly regularly. It’s worth any wait.
